In March 2024 I partnered with Jin Lee for his solo show “Beyond Line,” creating the installation Luminal Section. The work uses three arrays of eight lasers—blue and red—that a generative algorithm turns on and off, constantly reshaping the room with horizontal, vertical and angled patterns. The algorithm sets only the overall mood—how many dissections appear, their speed, and which colour dominates—leaving the exact configurations to chance. Sound triggers the visuals: clicks and beeps cause flashes and prompt the lasers to reconfigure.
My sound contribution follows a minimalist aesthetic, employing sparse clicks, glitches and slow, atmospheric drones that serve as a subtle backdrop to the shifting light. This interplay lets the auditory and visual elements converse fluidly, turning the space into a responsive, ever‑changing environment. The work premiered at DISKURS Berlin.
